Production Week 4


Gameplay

  • The player can pick up packages and carry them on his back
  • Packages despawn when their timer runs out
  • Player can move around with his jetpack, planet walking does not work yet


Procedural Planets
Houdini

  • Added mountains on top of the planets
    • Normal looking mountains
    • Option for plateaus instead of mountains
    • Making sure no trees get scattered on the mountains
  • Modelled another tree and houses to scatter
  • Adjusted the scatter proportions and making sure that the objects don’t overlap
  • Created UI for easier control

Problems
Exporting fbx

  • Exporting planets with the proper scale 
  • Reimporting files to update the changes doesn't work

Setting up the project:

Creating a universal render pipeline setup.

Recreating our basic elements: Planets, packages and players.

Setting up an input system for the players

Further production:

Setting up local multiplayer spawning multiple players in chosen locations.

Create a level scene which is playable.

Add a moving camera and limit the players in a set boundary.

Making the movement for a player.

Adding bumping to players.

Make the fuel mechanics work

Fix a proper gameloop with basic menu to start/restart
